When Roger and Charles
Ingersoll, the founders of one
of the oldest American watch
companies, started Ingersoll
watches they established
many milestones in
developing pocket watches
and wrist watches that are
timeless and elegant. In 1892,
with help from Henry Ford,
they developed an automated
production first for pocket
watches and then for wrist
watches. Thus was born an
automated production of
watches that had high quality
and precision at the
affordable price.
It's said that during a hunting
trip to Africa then American
president, Theodore
Roosevelt, mentioned that he
was described as "the man
from the country where
Ingersoll was produced". With
new technical advances in the
field and refinement of the
watches, they also produced
the smallest pocket watch
ever made. In 1919, the
Ingersoll brothers developed
the first watch with a "night
design" called the "Radiolite"
that had a luminous dial. To
this day Ingersoll Watches
remain high on the list of fine
timepieces.
